Letter to U from: Revlon/UCLA Women's Cancer Research Program
Hello, I'm Dr. Dennis Slamon, Director of the REVLON/UCLA Women's Cancer Research Program at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. We are the principal beneficiary of the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women LA. At the center of this program is a mission we can all certainly support, current treatment advances and ultimately, the elimination of breast and ovarian cancer.
In these challenging economic times I know that U want to make sure that each dollar U contribute to our work actually improves the lives of real patients U know in your communities. Research supported by the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women has led directly to the development of more effective and less toxic treatments for women's cancers. One treatment for a particular type of breast cancer, the drug Herceptin®, received approval from the FDA in record time and saves the lives of 250,000 women with HER2-positive breast cancer worldwide every year.
Today, thanks to your ongoing generosity, our dedicated researchers are actively pursuing similar new therapies for other types of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
Thank U for continuing to make this event the largest fundraiser for women's cancers in New York. I look forward to seeing U on Saturday, May 2nd in Times Square.

Welcome back Kimo Kards!
The Run/Walk is happy to welcome back Kimo Kards, our official "Survivor Ceremony" sponsor and in doing so provide a unique resource for U, our participants, to really give something great to your loved ones in need. Kimo Kards are touching cancer-recovery greeting cards appropriate for women, men and children that are available for U during hard times when words often fail U. They can be found online at www.KimoKards.com, and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to the EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women to aid in the fight against women's cancers. Make sure to select “EIF Revlon Run/Walk” to ensure that the proceeds are donated directly to the event. Start spreading hope and encouragement to your loved ones battling cancer through these personal greeting cards!
Make sure U check back on our website as new special offers are added throughout the campaign! | | |

Why U Walk
I am a uterine cancer survivor who was mistreated and misdiagnosed for two years by eight doctors before finally getting a proper diagnosis. I swear I got in the stirrups more times than Roy Rogers! A radical hysterectomy was a bitter pill for me to swallow, but I turned my pain into purpose by becoming a women's health advocate so that what happened to me didn't happen to anyone else.
As the President and Visionary of The Cancer Schmancer Movement I see whole families destroyed because of the profound loss of their mother, sister or daughter due to late stage diagnosis of women's cancers. We must educate ourselves on the early warning signs of cancer and the tests that could save our lives, transform from patients into medical consumers and take control of our bodies!
I feel I got famous, I got cancer and I lived to talk about it. Sometimes the best gifts come in the ugliest packages. I walk because I want to see a day where no woman loses her life due to late stage diagnosis of cancer. I walk in the EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women to say “Cancer Schmancer” because cancer is NOT the boss of me!

Created in 1993 through the committed and collective efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff, REVLON Chairman Ronald O. Perelman and Rehage Entertainment, the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women has grown to become one of the nation's largest 5K fundraising events. To date, the Run/Walks (LA/NY) have distributed nearly 55 million dollars for cancer research, treatment, counseling and outreach programs. Thanks in part to these funds, new treatments are being developed and lives are being saved.
